People Love Art is not only a brand that proudly celebrates artists with disabilities, but a platform on which to unite a community and their collective efforts for meaningful change.

People, Love, & Art.

These three priorities are our who, why, & how, and the framework for every decision we make.

People with disabilities are amongst the most marginalized groups in the world. The taboo nature of acknowledging a person’s disability translates to a failure to acknowledge the person with the disability.  People with disabilities have less access to education, fewer training or employment opportunities, poorer health outcomes, and higher rates of poverty and abuse than people without disabilities. It is important to recognize that these differences are not innate to any person. People with disabilities are disabled by social constructs in many cases more than by their bodies. People with disabilities aren’t just like us, they are us, we are them. Failure to recognize the humanity in any person, anywhere, dehumanizes us all.

Love isn’t just the highest form of caring about something, it’s an active noun like listen, learn, or assist. Can just one print or tee shirt really change the world? No. But one person ready to learn, ready to turn one piece of art into a conversation in their home or community can, and will. Simply speaking up is not only an important expression of love, it is the first action behind every idea that ever changed the world for the better.

Art can be an expression of a person’s identity and humanity. Seeing a piece of art that exceeds the viewer’s expectations can be an important first step in realizing that lowered expectations for people with disabilities are not a result of their contributions or status in society, but rather the cause of it. Low expectations are used to justify a lack of resources and recognition, perpetuating the fallacy that those who we expect little from have little to offer. Our fine art prints and unique apparel aren’t the message, merely the megaphone – whose purpose is to be a vehicle for voices that are systematically dismissed.

What we will become.

The brand supports a community that powers the mission.

The backbone of our brand is high quality apparel and fine art prints.  Our products are designed to create opportunities for conversation – and we plan to create as many opportunities as possible by offering luxurious & stylish apparel, unique archival prints, and affordable pricing,  all backed by an eco-friendly and socially conscious brand.

The products empower artists with disabilities by helping them to engage an audience, while
empowering a community to use their dollars for good when they purchase our products.

The brand exists to unite and empower a community.

People Love Art will be a forum for people with disabilities and their allies to share their art, their history, their voice, and find strength in shared experiences.  We will develop, curate, and share resource for aspiring and practiced artists, studios of all sizes, and groups seeking to start their own local studio.  Our online platform will be crowd-sourced and user driven, offering studio resources, artist tutorials, peer feedback, and a linking of efforts and ideas by community leaders.

The community exists to unite
people with a common mission.

Love.  That’s the mission.

All people are equally deserving of love, in every expression of it.  We must demonstrate this love by providing equitable access to opportunities for education and meaningful employment, and by ensuring that even our most vulnerable are provided basic human necessities like housing, utilities, health care, human connection, & understanding – all the things we want for the people we love.  The mission is to help expand the community of people we love until it is big enough to vote that love into law.  The civil rights struggle is not new for the disabled community, nor for the many other marginalized groups we seek as allies under a common mission.  We are here to hold up a megaphone to the generations’ old message of these communities, and to say:

“Here I am, how can I help?”
